Extreme Weather
The Climate Centre is dedicated to understanding and mitigating the impacts of extreme weather events and natural hazards. This program conducts cutting-edge research on phenomena such as bushfires, floods, droughts, and severe storms. By collaborating with experts and leveraging advanced climate modeling, the program aims to improve preparedness and response strategies, ultimately helping communities better withstand and recover from these events.
You can read more about marine heatwaves here, heat stress here, and fire risk here. We will also be conducting an assessment of storms in Australia and releasing this report during 2025.
